Better service than I've had in other clinics. The medical services are great.
I can get better care from animals.
Good luck getting any real help with this VA. Especially with mental health, they just let the vets rot
to death. Nothing makes sense on how they operate
So far it has been a pretty terrible experience. I called for three weeks trying to get registered and set up an appointment but no one ever called me back. Finally I had to go to the clinic. When I asked where to register at the information desk, they told me to sign in on the clipboard at the end of the hall. They didn't specify who to see or anything, so when I signed in I just chose patient advocate. After waiting close to an hour I was finally taken back to register by a woman that seemed very rude and hard of hearing as i had to keep repeating myself. When we got to get office I realized this is the woman I've been calling so I could register and she never called me back despite repeated messages. She scheduled me a month out for an appointment so I'm still waiting. She insisted on scheduling me early in the day and when I explained I would have to take time off of work she rolled her eyes at me. I guess this is the standard of care I can expect at this place. Either way, as a professional, I feel she should have her work area looking professional and not have all that clutter with sayings on the wall that could be construed as offensive. Just my opinion.
I've been going to this clinic for three years, as long as we've been in Lubbock. I've been generally satisfied with the doctors and nurses in primary care. I'm generally healthy, so I'm not sure how useful this review would be to someone that heavily utilizes the VA healthcare system. As for me, I've only gone in for my annual physical and immunizations--I'm blessed to be fairly healthy.
I found out today that I cannot use the vision benefit to get glasses unless I have 30% service-connected disability, and cannot get dental services unless I'm 100% service-connected disability, with some kind of oral/maxillofacial service-connected trauma history. I thought I'd pass that along, because that is what I was told over the phone.
