My 1st trip to Lubbock and I asked for local food, I went to The Shack, I have to admit when I reached the place I was like "what is this" but after you open the door and get in your first impression change, service is good I did not know what order so the guy that took my order was very patience, I ordered Brisket (sliced) and Potato loaded and was awesome the brisket technically melted in my mouth and the flavor was awesome, the staff was awesome too. So next time I come back Lubbock definitely I will visit "The Shack"

Tip: To avoid long lines, order ahead by phone and walk straight up to the counter to pick up your order to go.

Trying for the first time, parking in the dirt lot is an adventure, and lines form quickly out the door on a Sunday. Brisket, both lean and marbled, were tender and tasty. Sausage was good but not remarkable. Sauces added to the flavor of the meat and weren't overpowering. We really liked the meats. The sides, sadly, were lacking in flavor. Mac and cheese was heavily peppered and bland. The beans, coleslaw and traditional potato salad lacked salt and again, over peppered. Dining room is spacious but darkly lit, making it challenging to see your food.

This place is so good. The brisket has a great texture and flavor. The turkey was moist and good and the side were good too. The Mac and cheese is flavorful but my favorite was the loaded potato salad. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu. The whole family was full and happy.

My wife and I were visiting Lubbock to find housing. We had heard The Shack was the best BBQ in town so we decided to give it a try. It definitely didn't disappoint. The two meat plate was a bargain deal compared to most BBQ places. The sliced brisket was delicious with plenty of bark on it for all you bark sharks out there. For my second meat I ordered the pulled pork, it was juicy and succulent. I chose mac and cheese as my side, it was large size shells with a delicious homemade cheese sauce with a little spiciness to it, it was excellent. Only recommendation I can make is to order additional bread slices. They only give you one slice and you're definitely going to want more. The staff was very polite and nice, they allowed my wife to sample the collard greens, no charge, when she was indecisive about her side choice. Don't miss this place if you are in Lubbock.

Phenomenal! The meat is so tender and flavorful that you forget to even use sauce. Every time I come it's better than the last. My go-to is the "Shack Pack", and it feeds my entire family with leftovers to spare! Truly, this is the best barbecue you will ever have.
