After having not been to an Applebee’s location in quite some time, I was pretty excited to go. I remembered they had a deli-style cold cuts sandwich that was just phenomenal. And while I didn’t get said sandwich when we visited the S. Loop 289 location, what I did get was a clean establishment with a cozy atmosphere and ambient lighting and second-to-none service from a gentleman whom I tipped the equivalent of one third of the total bill. Granted, fantastic service makes or breaks one’s experience at a restaurant like this and if he had not been such a good waiter this probably would have only gotten 4 stars because the whiskey bacon burger I did get was just so-so. The fries were great and my wife’s dish was tasty but I really wish I would have gotten the sandwich I had remembered from yesteryear. Something they didn’t serve way back when...the Dew Berry Burst...coming from a self-proclaimed Mountain Dew FREAK, this might just be the best thing I’ve ever put in my mouth. Imagine normal Dew but with a shot or two of delicious Strawberry Bubbilicious. It was divine. All in all we WILL be eating here again and I’d tell all my friends to do the same. I can’t speak for any other Lubbock location but the one on S. Loop 289 is doing things right!
My wife and I were headed to Texas Road House till we saw an Applebees. We ordered and 40 later, no meal. Others got their meal, no us. We spoke with the manager and advised him of our situation. My wife's dinner was covered and mine was full price, even though I had to wait over 40 minutes for it. Worse service from an Applebees EVER. Manager misplaced his responsibility with bad results. The cook should have paid for this meal.
From the time we arrived sub standard service. The young kady who seated us.was rude. No menus no silverware. Orders.wrong. good appetizers though.
My food is always great. However, if you get a steak, it tends to be a bit overcooked. (You order medium rare and you get medium) Service varies. Sometimes it's great and sometimes you think the waitress/waiter has forgotten about you.
Never ever will we return to this location, the food was horrible on top of that tons tons of flies!!! The waitress witnessed us fighting the flies off our table, said she would spray the area again!! Again means someone else must have complained before us, nothing against her she was very nice. District manager approached our table, all he had to say was that no one else had complained about the food or the flies. While standing there looking straight at them, apparently he thought we wanted a free meal. Not only did we pay for 3 plates that were gross but even tipped the waitress. Never Again!!!
