Obviously I've had better sushi than Lubbock Texas but this place doesn't disappoint when you consider the options. It's actually really good, I love all the signature rolls. The hibachi is okay but I always go for the sushi. Service is good even when they are busy you can tell they are doing all they can to take care of you. The sushi just rolls and rolls non stop.
We Drove 6 hrs to have a taste of Hayashi, we haven't had it in over 3 yrs since we moved. Boy were we disappointed, the service was disappointing, we never knew the staff's name nor did they acknowledge us as a guest,just so people who are hungry. , the food, we got our cocktails, appetizers, main course all at the same time, to salty, steak was overcooked, shrimp was over cooked and dry, and rice was like eating oatmeal. I wonder what happened to or favorite Hayashi. The bartender thought we were joking. Didn't even call the manager to find out what is wrong.
The food was good but for lunch i paid about $45.00 just for my wife and I. I didn't like that they charge you for the rice shouldn't that be part of the entrée? And I guess our waiter was ready for us to leave because he kept coming to our table taking stuff from the table. Almost took the drink out of my wifes hand. I rather just keep going to Ohana's
Might be a little biased since I grew up in Japan; It's definitely not 'authentic' Japanese food, but it has its share of tasty dishes! Probably the most decent Japanese restaurant in Lubbock. I love their seaweed salad and the wide selection that they have. I have a suspicion that their miso soup is from powder rather than actual miso and bonito dashi, but hey - it's Lubbock. Either that or they cook it for way too long, it's always super salty... My only consistent complaint is that their waiters are often hard to get a hold of. I regularly spend almost 2 hours here due to food/waiter/check waiting. Overall a solid choice if you don't mind the prices and wait!
Hayashi is one of the best Japanese restaurants I have ever eaten at. I recommend it to everyone that loves Japanese food. It's incredibly authentic. We ordered sushi rolls and steak Hibachi and everything was AMAZING! The service was impeccable. The restaurant is very clean. Gage was our waiter and he was excellent. It's always nice to see someone working in a job that they are invested in and you could tell he was proud of being one of the best waiters you could ever hope to have. I will definitely eat here again!!
