This was our second time staying on property. The staff has been very friendly both times. We love the proximity to Texas Tech since that is the reason why we were there both times. The rooms we stayed in both times were recently renovated and nice on the inside despite the older look of the outside of the hotel. The room we had this time had a funky smell like it had been smoked in previously, but it wasn't overly bothersome. Our only issue with this hotel is the parking lot. The parking lot is not overly large. We came in late at night and therefore had to park around back both nights. There are no cameras and there are numerous signs indicating a possible problem with theft, not to leave belongings behind, park at your own risk, hotel not responsible for theft etc. That is for good reason... There is clearly a problem. Luckily we had no issue the first night when we had two trucks loaded to the gills with a freshman's belongings, but after the second night's stay we came out and our vehicle had been burglarized. We didn't report it to the hotel right away due to the "park at your own risk" signs and the actual "theft" wasn't enough to contact police for. We did not realize at the time that they had broken out the grill of our truck to cut the horn wires to prevent the alarm from sounding, once inside they removed 4 fuses from the fuse box under the dash disabling the dome lights, brake lights, blinkers, back up lights, causing us to drive 500 miles back to Houston under extremely dangerous conditions, All to steal an RTIC cooler and some Yeti cups. The damage they did to our vehicle far out weighs the cost of what they got! While the hotel can not be held responsible nor can they prevent 100% of this, they are aware there is an issue and they should employ security and put up security cameras to aid in deterring it. We have future plans to stay at this location for game days but are terrified to leave our vehicle in the parking lot.
Highly recommended.
The king suite was great. Lots of room and bed was comfortable. Sad that there was no tea in the room for the evening/morning. Breakfast was limited, but okay. Batter for waffles must have had baking soda instead of baking powder. Waffles tasted salty and left a slight foamy feel in the mouth. I hope they fix the breakfast because the room was great and the staff was very nice and helpful.
The fact that they allow dogs to stay for free (with a signature stating you are responsible for damages) had me loving it before I arrived. The rooms were very comfortable and clean! Who doesn't love free breakfast? The staff was very nice and helpful. I thoroughly enjoy my stay.
I was pleasantly surprised when I walked in. The atrium impressed me of the bat. The rooms face inward, which reminds me of some upscale more expensive hotels.
The facade looked really dated (re: old) and we were skeptical. We've had some BAD experiences with old-looking La Quinta hotels.
Our room was smallish, but not the smallest we've stayed in. We were impressed either the decoration in our room. It had been recently updated. Everything was clean and in order.
Clean and nice. Good beds. GREAT pillows. Slept well. Will return.
