Very poor experience!
Upon return on May 14, 2017, no shuttle at the drop off and when we got to the counter the same agent said that we would have to wait in line (3 people ahead of us) just to give her the key!! I said no thank you and left my key on the counter so we could catch our flight back! Not what we expected as Gold Card members!!!
The Toyota Yaris they gave my husband only got 16MPG when it should have gotten upwards of 30. No cruise control. The check engine light was on. Dings, scratches, and dents ALL OVER the car and they wouldn't give a different one even with the check engine light on although my husband will be taking the car 450 miles! Staff was rude and dismissive of the SAFETY issue of having the check engine light on. My husband took the car anyway because we didn't have time to look for something else. The gas needle said full but OBVIOUSLY wasn't completely full due to the needle dropping drastically after 10 miles.
the last time we rented at hertz the car was NOT clean and had pet hair in right front seat and back seats, the vehicle neded an oil change and 1 tire needed air. The rates are high now, from $30 to $45 for 1 weekend day. I will be renting a full size veihicle at Avis for 2 weekend days next week, it will cost me $47 total w/ coupons. hertz is charging $103 w/ coupons and $64 if I use my points for 1 free rental day. not worth it. I don't recommend hertz anymore, go to avis
The reason for a Gold membership is so we can make a reservation and not wait in line. Upon arriving at Lubbock airport on May 12, 2017, the agent at the counter was selling or booking a rental and I could see our reservation directly behind her. I told her that we already had a reservation, but she said that we would need to wait until she was finished and that she would be right with us--10 minutes later she finished her sales pitch!!
I've rented cars from the Lubbock Hertz location several times and always have excellent service.
Reserved an economy car two days in advance. Impossible to find the counter. The staff was rude. My husband tried to give them his marriott rewards and they pretended that they couldn't get it added until the manager over heard and stepped in. She tried charging for an extra day because we checked in for the rental 30 minutes before the reservation time was suggested. Wound up not being able to leave the location by the suggested pick up time anyway due to the condition of the rental car.
95% of Hertz equipment, associates and programs are the best in the rental car industry. Not in Lubbock Texas! Even for President award members!
