I bough my pair of RedWing Heritage Blacksmith boots about 6 months ago. I buy virtually everything online but decided to enjoy the convenience of using the retail store which is just down the street from my house. I enjoyed my first experience shopping in this retail location and have loved my boots since I have purchased them.
I have a complaint to file for the retail store in Lubbock, TX.

About 2 weeks ago one of my laces broke and I though to myself, "hey, this is great. I can just run to my local retail dealer and pick up a pair of replacement laces and I will not skip a beat." This is where I troubles began. I walked into the retail location and the sales person did not seem to know what they were talking about. They did not know which pair of laces I needed for my boots and recommended a pair that were not made for my style. The only pair of laces they had in stock were too short and were black, not the brown color that goes with my model. I asked the sales person if more were on order... She said yes (apparently a lie) and that they would contact me when they came in. I really needed my boots that day so I asked them to sell me a pair from one of the boots sitting in a box in the back of the store and then to replace those laces when they new order came in. She said no. I asked her to call her manager which she did and the manager also said no. They were concerned that they would sell out of these boots before the shipment of new laces and would have to turn a new boot buyer away because they boots they wanted to buy did not have laces. It is inconceivable that they would sell out of that many 300 dollar boots before a shipment of laces which was apparently already on its way would arrive. I decided to abandon my pursuit of acquiring a new pair of boot laces and asked them to call me when their shipment arrived.
I called RedWing more than a week later and they told me they still do not have laces and that the only option I had was to purchase the short black laces which were not made for my boot. They told me they would not be stocking my style of laces in the store. To this I ask, what is the point of even having a retail operation if you can't buy something as simple as replacement laces for a very common and basic pair of boots they do stock and sell. The time is now for retail operations to stay as relevant as possible by supplying these basic products. When a pair of laces breaks.... you need the convenience of driving to your nearest RedWing retail outlet and getting a quick replacement pair. It is bad service for me to have to wait for now 3 weeks to get a new pair of laces for a pair of boots I love. They sales lady explained to my that she could sell me 12 sets of laces and only then would she place an order for new laces for me. I would have to purchase all 12 pair... Unbelievable. In the end, there never were laces on order. The sales person either lied to me or was lied to by her manager about the order being placed in order to appease a disgruntled customer. I am very disappointed in the runaround I have been given my this retail operation about something as simple and fundamental as shoelaces. I love my boots. I think RedWing makes a great product. I am happy to support RedWing which is why I feel compelled to lodge this complaint. I will not be buying another pair from this retail location until they begin acting more with the customer in mind.
