Came to this restaurant for the first time. Has a very comfortable look to it. We asked for a table for two. Though there were empty tables all over the restaurant, we were quoted an hour wait time. We finally decided to sit outside. The waitress came to our area twice. We tried to get here attention, but were overlooked both times. After thirty minutes of waiting for the waitress, we finally decided to leave. Looks like a nice restaurant, but service is lacking

We are longtime fans of Funky Door, for many years & were excited to try the new location for the first time. It was unquestionably, the worst restaurant experience I've ever had & there's not a close 2nd. They sat my wife, son & I upstairs on a Tuesday night (can't imagine how bad it would've been on a weekend). 10 minutes for a drink order & 10-15 more for the drinks to come (3 iced teas...not anything that had to come from the bar) & to order. We finally got the food & didn't see our waitress again for over 30 minutes. Ate half my meal without a drink, as did my wife & son. 15 minutes after we were done eating, she came to offer a refill & I said just a check, please. I got the check over 10 minutes later & she collected it another 10 minutes later. It was nearly 40 minutes from the time I was done with my meal, to the point I got my card back. My family left 30 minutes earlier, so my son could get to bed. I looked for a manager to talk to & there was not one to be found, anywhere. I've never once left a $0 tip in my entire life & have also never complained to a manager. I'm a simple "get my food, eat my food, pay for my food," kind of guy. I left that $0 tip & I would've complained, had a manager cared enough to be accessible to the customers. Absolutely, miserable experience.

Too expensive for the food and service you receive. The service is not bad, but it was not perfect and while paying nothing less than $20 per person (very conservative estimate, not including drinks or appetizers, just the lowest priced dinner item) I would expect the service to be superb. Example, our table was not set correctly and had to ask for napkins and when we ordered the fondue, the flame was not lit and set properly, therefore our cheese got cold. Secondly the food was just "ok". First the bread for the fondue was toasted in some places and on others it appeared that it had never been near heat before. I ordered the New York strip steak and it was cooked completely uneven. Some parts were bleeding while others were done. Also, the side selection is lacking and you have to pay additional money for mac and cheese or a side salad. So, these things may appear to be minor, but when you are paying prices comparable to a high class B restaurant, you do not expect "steakhouse" food and service. Twice as expensive as the chain steakhouses and 1/2 as good. Wish the service and food were better to justify paying those prices because the atmosphere is great. So they need to lower their prices or put out a better product.

Wait staff seemed pissed off the entire time, they seemed mad we were there. (This is from 2 trips in the last 2 weeks).

First time at the new location and it was great. Food was awesome and service was excellent! Will definitely be coming back for the good food and live music!

New location has lessened the experience / quality of the food.

Not sure what has changed, but the food has been bad since the move to the new building.

Also, don't order a nice wine when seated up stairs, it will most likely vibrate off your table, or spill in your lap. The second floor vibrates / bounces when waiters walk by your table. Not a pleasant dining experience.

From what I have experienced, I will not be going back to the funky door, which use to be one of my favorite spots in Lubbock.
